Shifter Slider — Nissan Versa and Versa Note 2012-2019
Scan to watch the installation video.
Very rough test video — a cleaner version will be recorded soon.
Pre-installation:
- Park your vehicle in a flat, secure location to prevent rolling. Use wheel chocks if you have them.
- Ensure the engine is turned off and keys are removed.
- Ensure the parking brake is engaged.
- Place your foot on the brake pedal during the entire install.
- If you can remove the shifter cover while the vehicle remains in Park, do so. If you must change the shifter position, keep your foot on the brake, the parking brake engaged, and the engine off.
Installation:
- Remove the gear‑selector knob and shaft cover:
- Slide the shaft cover down to expose the metal retainer clip.
- Note where the clip sits on the shifter stick so you can re-install it later.
- Carefully remove the clip with pliers or a screwdriver and set it aside in a safe place.
- Pull up on the knob and shaft cover to remove them.
- Remove the center‑console bezel:
- Remove the screws securing the console. Most likely they are near the floor in the four corners.
- There may be screws hidden under trim on top the center console. Carefully pry off any trim pieces to reveal hidden screws, taking care not to damage the trim.
- Lift the console bezel away once all screws are removed.
- Remove the top cover of the shifter unit:
- Locate the four clips (two per side) holding the cover.
- Gently pry each clip with a small screwdriver to release them. Be careful as they can be brittle from age and heat/UV exposure.
- Lift off the top cover.
- Replace the slider, making sure the orange tab is on the driver side and that it sits properly in the channel between the shifter unit and the top cover.
- Test fit and function by shifting back and forth through all gears.
- Reassemble all components in reverse order.
